The (United Nations International School of Hanoi ) (UNIS Hanoi) is one of only two United Nations international schools in the world. It was the first international school established in Vietnam and is the original International Baccalaureate World School in Asia. It is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1988 with the support of the United Nations Development Programme in Vietnam (UNDP), UNICEF and the Vietnamese government. UNIS Hanoi is an English language, coeducational, day-school which offers a programme from Discovery (age 3) through Grade 12. The School is accredited by the Council of International Schools, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the International Baccalaureate Organization. The School is organized in two divisions: Elementary School and Middle/High School. The students belong to Houses: Buffaloes, Tigers, Lions and Eagles == Mission, Vision and Values == VISION: "Our learning community will be an inspirational role model for a better world" MISSION: "Our mission is to encourage students to be independent, lifelong learners who strive for excellence and become responsible stewards of our global society and natural environment, achieved within a supportive community that values diversity and through a programme reflecting the ideals and principles of the United Nations."
